Free pleading paper template and formatter
Pleading paper, laid out to your court's rules
Type your details and your words. PleadingReady puts them on numbered pleading paper, with the caption, margins and footer the court rules ask for, and gives you a Word file and a PDF.
- Free, no sign-up
- Nothing is uploaded
- Rules dated and cited
Choose your state
Each state's format comes from its own court rules, read at the source and dated.
Numbered pleading paper is mainly a West Coast tradition. Oregon dropped its numbered-line rule on 1 August 2026, and Washington's statewide rule doesn't require numbered lines. Is your court missing? Tell us.
How it works
- I
Type your details
Choose your court, then type your name and address, the parties, the case number, the document's title and your text. Pasting works too.
- II
See it on pleading paper
A live preview shows every page: numbered lines, the first-page caption, the footer and page numbers, placed where the rules say.
- III
Download Word and PDF
A Word file with Word's own line numbering, to keep editing, and a searchable PDF, ready to print or e-file.
Why people use it
Built from the official rules
Every margin and line position comes from the court's own published rules, never from template websites. Each format shows its rules and the date we checked them.
Private by design
Your document is made inside your browser. We never receive, store or see what you type. Privacy
Real line numbers
The Word file uses Word's own line numbering, so the numbers stay with your text. Tested in Microsoft Word and LibreOffice.
Free, and only formatting
No sign-up, watermark or paywall. The tool never writes or suggests content, so your words stay yours. What it doesn't do
Free templates
Blank 28-line pleading paper in the California format, and a filled-in example showing where everything goes.
PleadingReady is a formatting tool, not a lawyer, and this is not legal advice. It only lays out the words you type. Check your court’s rules before you file.
